FC Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the Champions League season after a 1-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at Montjuïc. Hansi Flick’s side started brightly and took the lead through Ferran Torres in the 19th minute, but the defending European champions fought back with goals from Senny Mayulu (38’) and Gonçalo Ramos (90’).
The match opened with Barça in control. Lamine Yamal lit up the stadium with an early piece of skill and soon played a key role in the opener. Recovering possession, he combined with Pedri and Rashford before setting up Ferran, who finished first-time to put the hosts ahead. During the first half-hour, Barça looked sharp, with Rashford and Dani Olmo threatening to extend the lead.
PSG, weakened by the late absence of João Neves, grew into the game and found their equalizer in the 38th minute. Nuno Mendes surged down the left, beat Yamal, and delivered a cross for Mayulu, who capitalized on a defensive mistake to fire past Szczęsny. The goal lifted the visitors, who nearly went ahead before halftime through Bradley Barcola.
After the break, PSG imposed their rhythm. Barcola and Mbaye stretched Barcelona’s defense from the flanks, while Vitinha gained control in midfield. Szczęsny kept Barça alive with several saves, and the home side’s best chance came from Dani Olmo, whose effort was cleared off the line by Hakimi.
Flick introduced Lewandowski, Balde, and Casadó to inject energy, while Luis Enrique brought on Ramos and Lucas Hernández. As the game entered its final stages, PSG looked fresher. Kang In Lee struck the post, and in the 90th minute, Hakimi led a counterattack before laying off to Ramos, who calmly slotted home to complete the comeback.
The defeat leaves Barcelona frustrated after a promising start, exposing their struggles in maintaining intensity late in big matches. PSG, meanwhile, showcased resilience and efficiency, underlining their credentials as serious contenders to defend their Champions League crown.
