LOS ANGELES — PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers are getting an early look at this month’s retro offering. Sony has confirmed that Capcom’s beloved 2006 PlayStation 2 hack-and-slash action RPG, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, will serve as the featured title in the PS Plus August 2026 Classics lineup for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
First teased during June’s PlayStation State of Play showcase, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams represents the culmination of Sony’s summer focus on bringing classic PS2-era titles to modern hardware. The game is expected to officially land on the service on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, coinciding with the monthly rotation for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game catalogs.
A Cult-Classic Action RPG Returns
Originally released in 2006, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams served as the fifth installment in Capcom’s acclaimed feudal Japan fantasy franchise. Set decades after the events of Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, the game introduced a darker tone, multi-character party swapping, and expanded hack-and-slash mechanics.
